JVM’s evangelical crusader map conquers the Jewish world

At present, a good part of the western world is justifiably chasing demographic demons and is mesmerized by maps and viral videos about a growing Islamic population and the threat of global Jihad. The most popular YouTube video of this sort – which has been disseminated by large numbers of Jews - carries a gospel message (but who cares when there are so many keffiyahs out there?)

Shocked by the prospect of Sharia law and trembling at the thought of talking trees, Jews have been seeking refuge behind mega-church pastors, while failing to watch their backsides, where developments on the missionary and avodah zarah fronts abound.

But the Christian evangelizing Jewish Voice Ministries (JVM) has just unveiled a global crusader map with a spiritual strike capability that appears to rival any physical threat Iran can muster-up. And while you were sleeping, JVM has already struck a significant number of Jewish souls.

Now Jewish Voice Ministries International “is dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel of Yeshua (Jesus) to the Jew first and also to the Nations throughout the world. The Good News is proclaimed through television, media, international festival outreaches & medical clinics/humanitarian aid. This is followed by planting new, and strengthening existing congregations, to nurture and disciple new believers. We also partner with other ministries to establish and operate Messianic Jewish Bible Institutes (MJBI) to equip leadership for Jewish ministry.”

JVM’s Executive Director Jonathan Bernis writes that the the global map represents most of the ministries, organizations, congregations, and outreaches supported by his ministry - “from Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and to the remotest part of the earth ... good and lasting fruit, planted and nurtured for the sake of the Gospel. “

It’s a bit mind-blowing when you view the far-reaching missionary influence of just one evangelical organization. It should give you an inkling of the magnitude of the messianic invasion here in Israel.

Of course Jewish Israel has been tracking, and trying to keep track of, the erratic “messianic” numbers game. Current stats have the number of “messianic Jews” (adherents of evangelical Christian sects feigning Jewish identity) in Israel as estimated between 15,000 – 20,000 members, and the number of messianic congregations numbering somewhere between 120-150. And let’s not forget that along with the belief in jesus as “lord and savior” comes an obligation to spread the gospel via missionary activity.

The very latest estimate of 15,000 “Jewish believers in jesus” comes from an article published last week in the popular Israeli daily Yediot Aharanot. The Hebrew article was entitled “Yeshua Superstar” – which should give you some idea of the slant. The messianic news agency Israel Today hailed the publication of the article as a pretty major victory for Israeli Messianics”.

Getting Back to JVM’s Jonathan Bernis… we simply can’t say enough about the guy:

· Jewish Israel reported on Bernis and the scandal involving Knesset member Shlomo Molla and the Ethiopian Jewish community (see related Mabat Channel 1 news video in Hebrew)

· We’ve captured Pat Boone bragging about baptizing a Jew in a Bernis interview

· Bernis is literally on the same page as Pastor John Hagee as far as supporting the missionary organization Maoz Israel

· We’ve covered JVM’s exploits in the former Soviet Union

· And JVM’s use of American Idol to promote messianic missionary jaunts targeting the Falashmura in Ethiopia

· Bernis has regularly featured programming on TBN and Daystar. So if you have cable in Israel, your might be able to catch his beaming the gospel message to the Jewish people – as both Christian missionary networks are now broadcasting in the Jewish State.

With regards to aliyah assistance , JVM has this video message for evangelicals: “if you are giving to organizations that are bringing Jewish People back to the Land from Russia or wherever, make sure they are a credible organization, that they are giving a presentation of the Gospel. It’s so important that there is the love of the Gospel being poured out as well as the physical assistance.”

We think it’s telling, but hardly surprising, that the Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ) puts in an appearance on JVM’s messianic map

Take a good look and absorb this very graphic depiction of what the evangelicals perceive and promote as part of “God’s plans for the Jewish people”. And if your eyes are still exclusively set on a physical threat from Persia, consider the following:

Rav Sholom Gold, Jewish Israel’s Rabbinic Director, explained to this writer that Queen Esther placed her priority on the threat of spiritual destruction before physical destruction.

“…for we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, slain, and annihilated.” (Megillat Esther 7:4).

The word “destroyed” in Hebrew refers to spiritual destruction and the Hebrew term “shmad” relates to a state of spiritual destruction and apostasy -when the gentiles influence Jews to forsake their Torah and faith.

It’s the month of Elul – a time when the Jews reflect on what’s important and aspire to get their priorities straight. Take a good look at the net that just one Christian evangelical organization has spread over Israel and the Diaspora, and then open your minds and hearts wide enough to include, among your concerns, the spiritual integrity and continuity of your people.

I am not terribly surprised by this. Jewish Voice Ministries had expenditures of over $10 million for the fiscal year 2008. This is about equal to Chosen People Ministries. The only one that I know with a budget greater than this is Jews for Jesus. Their revenues, and the revenues for CPM and JFJ are growing rapidly each year as more and more Christians are being suckered into donating to these groups under the guise that they are "authentically Jewish" while trying to "bring Jews to Jesus."
